Study Hard

December 7, 2007

Today we met our final meeting for the “ING” project at the library. We met outside the library in the FREEZING cold and then walked inside together. We decided that for the final meeting it would be a wise idea to study for our upcoming GCOM final. Because of all the other upcoming finals the library was packed. We had to wander for awhile until we found a spot where we could all sit in a circle. We studied for a little and then decided it would be better to meet up at a later time when it would be less crowded and when we all had less of a work load. As we were parting ways we all became sad as it was our last meeting for this class. We ended up deciding that we would continue to keep in touch and meet up next semester.ss2.png

Persuasive Speech Prep

December 6, 2007

It was hard getting back into the swing of things after Thanksgiving break, but with our impending speech, the gamma group decided to meet up and tie up all the loose ends. At first we chattered about how our breaks were, but we eventually got down to business, with poor Susannah coughing the whole time. We made our powerpoint and got everything squared away and decided to let Susannah get back to her dorm where it was warm so she could get better before we had to present. As each gamma group meeting ends, we all realize how much we are going to miss each other and have decided to continue to catch up whenever we can. Our next meeting will be very SOON because we need to study for the final, which we have heard is hard.finalspeech.png

Applebees!

December 6, 2007

Because Rebecca is a sophmore and lives off campus, we decided to spice up campus life and eat dinner off campus! We had an adventure trying to find Applebees, but finally found it and got a table for five. During dinner we talked about our upcoming persuasive speech on gun control, trying to organize what we were going to say. Our dinner consisted of pastas, chicken tenders, salmon, and a quesadilla. Besides the speech, we hardly talked about school as we were updating each other on the currrent events happening in our lives. Beside us at a table there was a huge group of people who were only using sign language. Since they were laughing and some were whispering, we came to the conclusion that it was a sign language class out to dinner. As we were leaving, we stopped an older couple leaving the restaurant and asked to have our picture taken. After glances were exchanged between the two, our dinner out was documented and Rebecca proceeded to drop us off at our dorms because it was so cold outside. We all had a good time at dinner, and we will all miss our meetings as a group when the semester ends because we have become a gcom family!applebees.png

Arts and Crafts!

December 4, 2007

th.pngThe Gamma group met today to do some arts and crafts in order to spice up our informative speech about Hillary Clinton! We met in a group study room in the 3rd floor of the library, Rebecca brought the supplies and paint and Laura helped us be artistic. We wanted to show our group unity with the shirts but did not want to influence the audience because it was an informative speech not a persuasive speech. This is why we wrote “team Hillary” rather than “vote Hillary”. This was a fun project that we could all do and also spend time chatting as well about our plans for thanksgiving break and what we were going to do at home with our friends and families. Everyone was excited for home-cooked food and especially for turkey! When we were done crafting and the shirts had dried we were suprised and proud of the outcome! Hopefully they will make a statement when we wear them for our speech!

TEAM HILLARY

November 12, 2007

Last week our group members met up in Carrier library to plan and discuss our group symposium on presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. We all decided what individual issue we would cover, and came to an agreement that we would work on the intro and conclusion as a group. Susansh decided to cover energy, Rebecca chose women, Luke decided on health care, Kate was covering Hillary’s bio, and I chose to cover foreign policy. After deciding our topics we then arragned the order in which each of us would speak during the presentation. Once everything was organized we planned our next meeting for later in the week where we would compile our power point and practice our whole presentation as a group.

Group Study

October 16, 2007

Today our group met in order to cram for our up coming MIDTERM! We met outside the library and went in together. We had a fun little adventure trying to find an area to study. First we ended up getting lost trying to find the group study rooms, and then after we found them there were none left! We decided to go down to the second floor and study in the open area they have there. We not only got lots of studying done but we bonded more and became a closer group, and found out that some people in the library like it very quiet and if you disturb them they will get pretty rude. Overall I believe that we had a good Group Study.

Gamma Group Bonding

October 12, 2007

Wednesday afternoon the gamma group met on the quad. We sat in the grass in the shade of one of the huge trees and chatted about all sorts of things, such as the weather, politics, classes, and our future meetings. It was a day of enjoying the beautiful fall weather and taking a little extra time to get to know more about each other. We watched a guy walk on his tightrope, which led to discussion about the circus. We felt that we deserved a relaxing afternoon. Each meeting, we learn more and more about each other and our group is becoming closer. Getting to know each other is helping to make our group more cohesive and we feel that we can accomplish a lot together! Our next meeting will be on Monday at the library where we will study like crazy for our upcoming midterm!!

Gamma Group Schedule

October 4, 2007

Our amazing Gamma Group met outside Harrison Hall again this afternoon under a shady tree in the grass. We watched students study, walk a tight rope, and play with dogs. Once we got down to business, we created a schedule that was convienent with everyone’s busy days. We decided to meet on Wednesday October 10th at 3:30 in the quad again and maybe grab a cup of coffee and catch up on the week. The next Monday will be our last meeting as a group before the midterm, and we decided that would be a great time to study for the exam in the library! We are meeting at 7pm so hopefully it won’t be too late of a night! We also came up with possible ideas for meetings in the future which include playing with Rebecca’s dog Toby and having dinner off campus because Rebecca is a sophmore and has a car. We also found out that November 13th is Rebecca’s birthday so we might bake a cake!

Gamma Group Code of Conduct

October 2, 2007

Sunday night the gamma group met outside the library to discuss our code of conduct. We made a list of expectations for attendence which included being on time and attending every meeting. The few exceptions for skipping a meeting would be an unbareable workload of a personal emergency. If this occured then we would try to make up the meeting or share what we did in the meeting with the memeber who was not there. For our meeting agenda we decided that we were all responsible for the agenda. Susannah volunteered to be the “official reminder” to tell everyone when the meetings are scheduled. The expectations for each meeting are to be on time and to have the work done that we promissed. The behavior expectations are to be focused, to be efficient, and to be respectful of everyones ideas. We decided if there was any conflict we would talk it out and be aware of people’s feelings. We will make decisions by talking about what we want and having a group vote. We want our group environment to be relaxed but focused, positive and friendly! Our expectations for the projects this semester will be to work together, to share work evenly, to get assignments done early, and to get A’s!
